Bushwalks and Lookouts

Easy Grade Bush walks: Bidjigal (formerly Excelsior) Reserve, Fagan Park, Sophia Doyle Reserve, Castle Hill Heritage Park, Hunts Creek Reserve
and Cumberland State Forest.

Challenging Grade Bush walks: Bidjigal (formerly Excelsior) Reserve, Holland Road Reserve.

Difficult Grade Bush walks: Holland Road Reserve.

Cumberland State Forest: Includes a Sensory Trail to test your senses of touch, smell and sound in the forest. You can also enjoy a relax and a cup of tea in the outdoor café.

Lookouts: Mount Wilberforce Lookout Reserve, Hawkins Lookout, Porters Scenic Lookout, Turkey Nest Dam Reserve.

Bushland: Bidjigal (formerly Excelsior) Reserve, Hawkins Lookout, Hunts Creek Reserve.

Historic Parklands and Reserves

From our Indigenous past to the history of Colonial settlement, there are many historic parklands throughout Sydney Hills.

Cattai National Park:  Where you'll find evidence of The Dharuk, Cattai and Berooberongal occupation - there are Aboriginal axe grinding sites, rock engravings and Aboriginal art sites. You can also tour the Homestead.

Castle Hill Heritage Park: is the site of the 1804 Castle Hill Rebellion.

Historic Roughley House (c.1856)

Fagan Park: Contains Historic Netherby Cottage, the original residence of the Fagan family. Features the garden of many nations with areas dedicated to North and South America, Africa, Holland, Japan, China and Australia

The Convict Trail: Devine’s Hill at Wisemans Ferry and The Great North Road, built by convicts between 1826-1836 was an extraordinary engineering feat and can still be appreciated today.
