WindsorRichmond is another Macquarie town. It is located on the plains at the foothills of the Blue Mountains and at the beginning of Bell's Line of Road which passes over the mountains to Lithgow.
Richmond is the home to many historic and attractive colonial buildings and has a particularly attractive park at its town centre, where you can watch a game of cricket from the charming grandstand.
Pugh's Lagoon, located on Richmond's western outskirts, has many picnic tables and there is an abundance of birdlife enjoying this wetland. Take advantage of the BBQs and break your journey for lunch here.
Richmond is the terminus of the rail from Sydney and also hosts the Australian Air Force Base at nearby Clarendon. Stop in the park opposite the airfield and enjoy the spectacle of military aircraft taking off and landing.
Richmond has become a centre of learning with The University of Western Sydney's Hawkesbury Campus located in its environs.
